Mt Isa and Katherine

Well it has been some time since I updated but this has been due to no service and we have been busy with some long days of driving.
We spent a day in Mt Isa catching up on food shopping and we decided to buy a car stereo as the factory fitted one had no iPod plug in and the Belkin was rather hopeless. We found a cheapie at Repco and Lloyd was into fitting it before we had hardly got organised at our roadside camp for the night.
Termite Hill Art
Yes the next day we had wonderful sounds from our vast selection of music, it does make a difference when you are driving for 5 hrs or so. Im not saying of course that we have nothing to say to one an other but conversation can dry up a little after spending many hours with just the 2 of you!
Mt Isa does have a few attractions to see but most of these required you to go underground and that is not at all my thing! So after looking at the town, with its huge mines from a lookout we headed out.
As you drive along the highway there are hundreds, well thousands really of termite hills. Quite a few of the roadside ones have been dressed up by travellers and locals. Often its just a teeshirt but some have hats as well and it does make for some interesting termite hills. We must have seen at least 100 of these on the way to Katherine and beyond.
We crossed the border from Queensland
