Mackay and St Helens Beach August 1

We had been interested to see what Mackay was like as Lloyd had been offered a job there about 5 years ago. It was not the right time for us to travel so we declined it but of course wondered what sort of town it was.
We left Carmila Beach and enjoyed the drive up the Bruce Highway to Mackay. The traffic on the open road is quite light with large trucks overtaking us often as we travel at 90-95kms for economy.
The mouse on the Mac Air had played up the day before so we visited an Apple Dealer. It was working fine when we took it in so we decided to buy a mouse incase it happens again where we have no way of getting it fixed. Mackay is a pretty town with a main river, I had wanted to visit the Blue Lagoon swimming area for a swim but of course for the locals its winter and it was closed. The temp was 27 deg while we were there so a swim for us would have been nice. After checking the place out and stocking up,we seem to have to do this too often for Lloyd. You can tell he never did the shopping at home!
We had sorted a camp place at St Helens Beach and arrived about 4pm to find a nice spot.We wanted to catch up on washing and there was plenty of water available here. Lloyd also had some LEDs to replace for the fluro lights which use too much power.Again it was on the beach and it had a tropical feel with coconut palms and temperature being rather warm 28 deg
