We had been told that the campsite at Carmila Beach, past Rockhamptom was lovely if you could get a spot as it was very popular so it was best to arrive in the morning after people had pulled out. We were also told to only go in so far as it was hard to turn around, so check for a free spot and be careful of the soft sand.
With all that information we arrived about 11 am drove so far in a looked around. There appeared to be no sites but we walked along the narrow road for quite away and found a place right on the beach front. However it required Lloyd to reverse in and some places it was quite soft sand so he would only get one go at it. My hand signals would really matter here!!!

He did a great job and even though the sand was soft we managed to park the van on the harder part. It was so worth it as we had a great view, the tide was in and Lloyd once sorted had a fish with his new surf caster he got for his birthday. This would do for a couple of days. You can stay for up to 3 days for free. However you need to be self contained and no water is available, suited us well!!
