The next morning we were up early and down at the river to go on a 2 hr kayak trip from the middle gorge to the Upper gorge. We wanted to be the first ones on the river so we could get the best photos with no one else in them. There was a couple with a young child in front of us but we soon paddled past them and got way ahead.
For those of you that know us well, you are aware that we kayak a lot in NZ but don't do double kayaks too well!!! Anyway we had no choice as they did not have singles so with our good camera in hand we knew we had to make sure there were no mishaps. These were sit in kayaks and not as stable as our ocean kayaks from home. I promised to be good and listen to Lloyd and decided I would not paddle too much but take the photos as I was in the front.
It was truly wonderful,there was the sun just on one side of the high cliffs and so much to see.I have only put on a few of
the photos but of course we have so many amazing shots. While we were paddling back a freshie decided to check us out and put his long snout out of the water ahead of us.It was so quick that I couldn't get a photo. The colours were so wonderful,the contrast of the green water, red cliffs and blue sky with lots of greenery.This is what we came to see!!!!
