Kings Canyon

KIngs Canyon is located in the Watarrka  National Park about 300kms away on a sealed road. It was not the most interesting drive but I think we were both tired from very early morning rises. We stayed at the Kings Canyon Resort which again was empty and it would probably be fair to say the word resort is rather misleading!!!! They did charge $45 per night for a site and at least they had a pool to cool off in.
We did a short walk to the Kings Canyon creek  and watched the sunset over the James Ranges before an early night. We needed to be up by 6am to walk the Kings Canyon Rim which is a 3 to 4 hour walk and they close it at 9am if its over 36deg.
We managed to start by 6.40am and the first part is the most challenging as you climb 500 stairs to the top of the canyon.
The stairs up!
Looking back down from the top,see the people at the bottom?
The cone shaped rocks similar to the Bungle Bungles
