Clare Valley

The drive to Clare Valley was about 180kms through so lovely pastoral towns and we really did not encounter much traffic at all.
We had decided to stay in Blyth a small town about 10kms out of Clare township as they had free camping at the local sports ground which was very quite.
However the wind and flies were still evident which was annoying.
Some of the vines were planted in the 1880s here in Clare
We started the Reilsing Trail with a visit to Tim Adams winery and especially enjoyed their Pinot Gris. Next was Greg Cooley wines just down the road and then Sevenhills.
Reilly Wines in the main street
We then drove out to the the historical village of Mintaro which had great old buildings.
We also visited Pikes Polish Hill River Estate which had beautiful grounds and buildings but it was the worst cellar door experience I think that we have ever had. The women was actually rude, Lloyd thought we interrupted her lunch!
We ended up having a nice lunch at the Sevenhill Hotel outside enjoying a glass of local riesling.
We finished our day at Annies Lane  winery at Queltaler which had a great museum with lots of local history. We decided we could have spent another day in the region but it was time to start making our way up through the Red Centre.
